Desde entonces, cada a\u00f1o se invita a los Estados a las Naciones Unidas a participar en una nueva ronda de negociaciones sobre el Tratado. El desaf\u00edo es la adopci\u00f3n de un Tratado jur\u00eddicamente vinculante para acabar con la impunidad de las empresas y regular sus actividades contra la destrucci\u00f3n del medio ambiente y los abusos y violaciones de los derechos humanos. Un Tratado de la ONU permitir\u00eda a los Estados <strong>acordar universalmente los elementos que regulan la conducta de las empresas transnacionales en el derecho internacional de los derechos humanos, y sentar las bases para un acceso efectivo a la justicia.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Al mismo tiempo, las ciudades y comunidades est\u00e1n uniendo fuerzas a trav\u00e9s de redes e iniciativas comunes, aumentando los espacios democr\u00e1ticos locales y construyendo alternativas concretas a los actuales modelos de desarrollo econ\u00f3mico y urbano que refuerzan la exclusi\u00f3n y las desigualdades. En 2020, se public\u00f3 el \u00ab<a href=\"https:\/\/bindingtreaty.org\/autoridades-locales-del-mundo-en-apoyo-al-tratado-vinculante-las-naciones-unidas\/\">Llamado a las autoridades locales para apoyar el Tratado Vinculante de la ONU<\/a>\u00ab, exponiendo su inter\u00e9s por un Tratado ambicioso.
