As we celebrate the 2024 World Day for the Right to the City, we look at the actions and strategies from youth groups to learn how they have been engaging both for climate and territorial justice, through the perspective of the Right to the City.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

For such, the GPR2C along with\u00a0 Resilient 40 Africa<\/a>, Streetnet International<\/a>, P\u00f3lis Institute<\/a> and Misereor<\/a><\/span> will hold a public event on October 24th to celebrate Urban October focusing on youth voices and action for climate justice and the Right to the City. The event will be held online from 15h-16:30h CEST (<\/b>check your local time here<\/b><\/a><\/span>) and will count with interpretation in english, spanish and portuguese. <\/b>Register here.<\/b><\/a><\/span><\/h5>\n

Youth have been leading the way in raising the alarm for the urgency to take immediate action to address climate change. Youth groups around the world have been organizing and engaging for climate action following different strategies and diverse objectives, from protests, awareness-raising, community organizing and driving sustainability initiatives at different scales.<\/span><\/p>\n

As the Summit for the Future just concluded in September, it came with a strong focus on youth voices and strategies to face the challenges of the present and future. This included a declaration on future generations, which openly recognizes the perspective of climate justice. <\/span>But what are youth groups\u2019, from different regions, main claims and priorities in their fight for climate justice? What are the strategies being driven at different spheres? And how do these relate with territorial issues and some of the pillars of the Right to the City such as political participation, protecting the social function of the city and promoting diverse and inclusive economies?\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

This event seeks to spark these conversations with organized youth groups from different regions, promoting an exchange on their strategies and priorities, through a human rights and territorial perspective. It will also be the opportunity to release and discuss the Glossary on Climate Change being published by the GPR2C and P\u00f3lis Institute with the support of Misereor.<\/strong><\/p>\n
