The Right to the City shall be a central feature of the 2nd International Social Housing Festival, being in Lyon between June 4-8.
The ISHF 2019 will reflect upon the need to make the link between decent, affordable homes for all, the cities (as well as villages) we live in and the way we live together. With new needs emerging from the demographic change that is unfolding around the world, particularly in Europe, the future of living will be much different and the time to get ready for it is now. A new alliance bringing together institutions, citizens and service providers is necessary to co-produce new types of services that will be adapted to the notion of supported housing.
Cities that encourage diversification of tenures will be on the right path to a sustainable, inclusive future. New inputs down the road of social production of habitat making use of the various forms of community-led housing can produce more liveable cities where everyone can enjoy a better life. At the same time, the alarm bell to re-examine the ways we live together has already gone off. The cities of tomorrow shall be co-created spaces where citizens are active agents of the urban space.
Alongside the Right to the City, the forum will focus on affordable housing and producing sustainable, healthy cities. For registration details contact info@housingeurope.eu and keep up to date with the latest here.
