Description: Observatório das metrópoles is a networked research group, bringing together institutions and researchers from university, governmental and non-governmental fields. The team formed in the Observatory has been working for 20 years, currently involving about 100 researchers and 60 institutions in a systematic and articulated manner on the metropolitan challenges posed to national development, with reference to understanding the changing relations between society, the economy, the State and the territories formed by Brazil’s large urban agglomerations.

Mission: To bring together Postgraduate Programmes in different stages of consolidation, which has allowed for the virtuous practice of cooperation and scientific exchange through the wide circulation of practices and academic experiences. We seek to combine research and teaching activities with carrying out activities that contribute to the actions of government actors and of civil society in the field of public policies geared to this area.
